The Black Satellites of Ghana failed to advance to the semi-final of the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and have missed out also in the next FIFA World Cup after being evicted by Egypt last night

Ghana despite having a stellar run in the first round and finishing as Group B winners, lost 5-4 via penalty shootouts to the hosts after a thrilling 2-2 draw after extra time

The Egyptians started the game on a blistering note and took a two-lead in less than 30 minutes courtesy a brace from Al Ittihad Alexandria youngster Momen Sherif

However, two subsequent goals from FC Barcelona's Abdul Aziz Issah and Abdul Hakim Sulemana in each half were enough to complete the fightback for Ghana but still couldn't sail through in the end

Speaking after the game in a very sad mood, Danish-based winger Hakim Sulemana who was adjudged man of the match which marked his second in the competition, admitted it's a very hard defeat to take even though they gave their all and is more heartbreaking they will missed out on the next U-20 Mundial

“I think we came all out. It’s always hard when you are 2-0 down and then coming up. We gave all our hearts, and that’s where we wanted to get the win, but unfortunately, we didn’t have luck on our side. We tried our best, that’s what matters,” Abdul Hakim Sulemana said.

“The aim was to qualify for the World Cup, and after qualifying, we get to win the trophy, but unfortunately, of course, we are not happy. We are out at the quarterfinals. We are not happy at all.”

Desmond Ofei and his charges are expected to return to the country by the close today with some of the players most likely to join their respective clubs as soon as possible
