Former U-20 World Cup winner and Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, has weighed in on the type of coach needed for the Ghanaian national team.
Following Chris Hughton’s departure after Ghana’s disappointing AFCON performance, the Black Stars are currently without a coach. With the Ghana Football Association (GFA) set to appoint their sixth coach in recent years, Badu emphasized the importance of strong leadership.
In a discussion on UTV Showbiz about the team's current state, Badu highlighted the necessity for a coach who possesses boldness, effective player management skills, and leadership qualities.
Citing Otto Addo as an example, Badu expressed admiration for coaches who can effectively control players and make decisive decisions. He emphasized the need for discipline and commitment within the team camp, qualities he believes are essential for success.
“The current Black Stars need a coach who is very bold, a coach who can control the boys and also good in leadership.
“This is the reason why I like Otto Addo and we need a coach like that. You could see that he was able to control the players and you need a coach like that in this generation. You need a coach who is very bold in this decision making, a coach who can bring discipline and commitment in camp,” Agyeman Badu stated.
Meanwhile, the search committee has submitted list of coaches who are capable of managing the Black Stars to the Ghana Football Association.
