Yussif Chibsah, a former Ghanaian international, has expressed his belief that a former footballer will eventually assume the leadership role of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Recently, former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah called for greater involvement of ex-footballers in various levels of football administration in the country. While Appiah's remarks were well-received by many, they did not sit well with some members of the current GFA administration.

In response to Appiah's comments, an executive member of the GFA highlighted the importance of following proper processes before considering ex-footballers for leadership positions.

However, Chibsah, who himself played for the national team, remains optimistic about the possibility of a former football player leading the GFA.

"There is a possibility [of a former football player leading the GFA] because ex-footballers are still investing in and following football. They have a passion for football, so we cannot entirely rule out the possibility," Chibsah stated.

He further emphasized that if ex-footballers aspire to become the president of the GFA, they must follow the proper procedures and prepare themselves for the role.

"Football is governed by rules and regulations, and the GFA has its constitution and statutes. If any ex-footballer has the ambition to lead, they must start preparing themselves on how to become an FA president. It requires more than just being a former footballer," Chibsah added.

Currently, the GFA is led by Kurt Okraku, who is seeking a second term as his initial tenure is set to expire in October 2023.
