Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says a review of the Black Stars’ budget has helped the country save almost $700,000.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Sports Minister explained that careful planning and spending around the national team led to the savings.

The meeting at the Sports Ministry was also attended by Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku, Deputy Directors of the National Sports Authority Veronica Commey and Gideon Hammond, and Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah.

According to Adams, the savings came from working closely with the Ghana Football Association to better manage spending.

“We’ve worked together with the FA to make sure that we rationalise our budgeting and release processes, and this has saved close to about 700,000 dollars in two games involving the Black Stars,” he said.

He added that the cost-cutting measures did not affect the team in any way.

“All these have gone a long way to build confidence. The players did not suffer and the technical team did not suffer. They continued to receive what is due them, even with these savings,” Adams explained.

Ghana’s Black Stars are preparing for their next assignment as they continue their campaign towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which starts in June.
