The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced Cote D'Ivoire as the host of the 2023 CAF Women's Champions League.
The decision mainly is to access the facilities in the West African country to confirm it progression and readiness to host the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
The previous two were held in Egypt and Morocco respectively, with Mamelodi Sundowns winning the maiden edition, with ASFAR also completing a host and win to emerge champions of the last edition.
Official statement from CAF reads:
"The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Côte d’Ivoire as the next host country of the CAF Women’s Champions League 2023,” part of the Ghana FA communique said.
“The staging of the CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 will enable Côte d’Ivoire to test the facilities that will be used for next year’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.”
Ghana's representative this year will be Ampem Darkoa Ladies who humbled eternal rivals Hasaacas Ladies 5-3 on penalties in the Ghana Women's Premier League final last week and will have to secure the ultimate spot at the WAFU Zone B Championship- a hurdle they failed to jump last year thereby missing out on the main competition.
The Hasmal Ladies however bossed the West African edition to cruise into the main tourney but unfortunately lost to the Masandawanas in the final of the maiden edition.
Dates for the competition is yet to be communicated from the continent's highest governing body
