The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach has been asked to continue his job at the Black Stars after a meeting with the Ghana Football Association Executive Council (ExCo) in Accra on Wednesday, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.
A section of Ghanaians called for the sacking of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo and his technical team after failing to qualify the senior national team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers (AFCON) in Morocco.
Ghana for the first time ended an AFCON qualifiers campaign without a win, having finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points, accumulated from three losses and three draws in six matches.
The country's football governing body executive council, in a crunchy meeting with the 49-year-old trainer at the Ghana Football Association headquarters, decided to maintain Otto Addo and task him to qualify the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Executive Council also accepted Otto Addo's request to make significant changes in the technical team of the Black Stars.
Kickgh.com can also reveal that an experienced tactician will be appointed to strengthen the Otto Addo's-led technical team as they plan to rebuild and rejuvenate the Black Stars for the upcoming fixtures.
Otto Addo was appointed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in March 2024 on a three-year contract.
Ghana will be hoping to extend their unbeaten streak in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in March when the Black Stars host Chad in Accra on March 17 before traveling to face Madagascar on March 24.
