Kwame Opoku scored late to power Asante Kotoko to a vital 2-1 win over lower-division side True Democracy FC at the Baba Yara Stadium to book a spot in the semi-final of the FA Cup

The Porcupine Warriors started the game on a higher note having attacked right from onset and had an early corner kick. It was well-taken and fell kindly for Justice Blay but blasted wide for a goal-kick.

Quick response from True Democracy few moments later after Alhassan Mahamoud made his way into the box and sent a strong hit but was blocked by Blay to a wasted corner kick.

Asante Kotoko opened the scoring account in the 12th minute through Saaka Dauda who struck from a close range from Patrick Asiedu's javelin throw.

The homesters came close to doubling their lead but Adrian Adjetey had his well-taken free kick dealt with properly by goalkeeper Godfred Amoah.

Asante Kotoko were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute after Kwame Opoku was fouled in the box by the opposition goalkeeper. Justice Blay stepped up but unfortunately struck off the upright.

In the second half, both teams bounced back on a higher note and took the game at each other but this time the visitors were slightly ahead.

Eventually, True Democracy levelled the score in the 61st minute mark through Isaac Botchway whose free kick took a wicked deflection to land into the net.

Emmanuel Antwi with a quick response few moments later and tried restoring their lead with a powerful hit from way out but went straight at the throat of goalkeeper Godfred Amoah.

Godfred Amoah called to action again after pulling off a great save to deny Adrian Adjetey from bringing Kotoko back in the lead.

Kwame Opoku out of nowhere struck from the edge of the box to restore Asante Kotoko's lead in the closing moment of the game. Just what they kept on hunting for.

It finished 2-1 in the end for Asante Kotoko in the end and will face Berekum Chelsea in the last four of the competition
