Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu cautions the Black Galaxies regarding the significance of securing qualification to the next African Nations Championship tournament.

The Ghana home-based national team got held by Nigeria to a goalless draw in the first leg of the playoff round qualifiers and will have to defy all odds in the return encounter to qualify which will be a very tedious task.

The former Udinese Calcio midfielder argues that failing to qualify would be a catastrophe, stating this on the premises of the Black Stars already missing out in next year's Africa Cup of Nations after recording a winless campaign in the qualifiers series.

In a discussion with Joy Sports, the versatile midfielder urged the team to avoid a defensive approach and instead play openly, as there is now only one leg remaining.

"We should be very careful not to go and defend.

"This is only one game and when you lose, you are not going anywhere. We can't do that [lose] because mind you, we didn't qualify for the |2025] Africa Cup of Nations.

"If the CHAN too, we don't qualify then there will be a little bit of disaster so we will support them, pray them, they [Galaxies] should go all out and win the game for us in the return leg," he added.

Agyemang Badu represented the Black Stars, from 2008 to 2017, making 78 appearances and netting 11 goals.

He was also part of the Black Galaxies squad that lost to DR Congo in the final of the maiden edition of the CHAN tournament in 2009.
