Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, has expressed grave concerns about the current state of Ghanaian football following the Black Stars' dismal performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars have struggled throughout the campaign, suffering a disappointing loss to Angola and managing only a goalless draw against Niger. Their latest setbacks came in the doubleheader against Sudan, where Ghana drew 0-0 at home and fell 2-0 in the return leg in Libya.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Fianoo, a veteran football administrator and former AshantiGold SC CEO, did not hold back in his criticism of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
"Ghana football is in a mess," Fianoo lamented. "We haven't seen anything yet. If the FA continues with this family and friends system, this is the result we will get. These individuals (Executive Council) came solely to benefit themselves, not to improve our game."
Fianoo urged for significant changes, calling on stakeholders to speak up against the current administration's practices.
"Things can only change if we all stop the 'yes sir, master thing' and speak truth to authority," he emphasized.
Ghana currently sits third in Group F with just two points, leaving their AFCON qualification hopes hanging by a thread. They must win their final two matches against Niger and Angola while hoping Sudan falters in their remaining fixtures to have any chance of making it to the tournament in Morocco next year.
