CF Montréal striker Prince Osei Owusu has been handed his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
The 28-year-old German-born Ghanaian has been included in Otto Addo’s final squad for the Asian tour, marking a major milestone in his professional career.
Owusu, who currently plies his trade in Major League Soccer, has long been on the radar of the national team technical staff due to his consistent performances in North America’s top flight. A powerful and dynamic forward, Owusu previously played for Toronto FC and 1860 Munich, and was named on Ghana’s standby list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros last month.
With several senior players unavailable, Addo has turned to Owusu to provide additional attacking options as Ghana prepares for two high-profile friendlies designed to test squad depth and readiness.
The Black Stars will face Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Seoul. These matches are part of Ghana’s broader preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, giving Addo the chance to refine tactics and evaluate new talent.
Owusu’s inclusion adds fresh attacking depth to the squad and underscores Addo’s strategy of blending youthful energy with international experience as the Black Stars gear up for a critical year in their rebuilding process.
