The Ghana Football Association has announced special tributes in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong ahead of this weekend’s domestic competitions.
In an official statement, the FA confirmed that players and team officials will wear black armbands during matches as a mark of respect for the former Berekum Chelsea forward, who was on loan from Aduana FC.
The Association also announced that a minute of silence will be observed before kickoff in all designated matches, including fixtures involving the six clubs competing in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals as well as the Women’s Premier League final.
The GFA has further called on clubs, match officials and supporters to fully cooperate in observing the tributes in a respectful manner as the football community continues to mourn the tragic passing of the 20-year-old.
Frimpong, who was sadly shot dead last Sunday when Berekum Chelsea were attacked by armed robbers on their way home from Samreboi, has sent shockwaves through Ghana football, with this weekend’s gesture forming part of efforts to honour his memory across the country.
