Media relations director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has stated that the domestic football governing body has every right to consult the government concerning the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.
Otto Addo's future has been deliberately placed on a furnace after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Twum, the Executive Council of the GFA are currently locked in collusion with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to brainstorm issues concerning the senior national team—the Black Stars.
"It depends on where you sit, but the council is referring to the ministry on a number of issues. They have every means to consult the ministry,” he told Joy FM.
"This is because, finally, when you even take a decision to fire the coach and there is an issue about paying him off, it is the responsibility of the ministry and the government to pay him off.”
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Otto Addo handed out a report to the FA's Executive Council, delineating the rationale behind the Black Stars' bad performances in the afcon qualifiers.
However, the meeting ended without a conclusive verdict, as the FA revealed that further consultations with stakeholders, including the government, would be essential to decide Addo's destiny as Black Stars coach.
