The Black Stars of Ghana have dropped to 70th in the latest FIFA World Rankings following underwhelming performances in the recent September international break.
Ghana's national team faced setbacks in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, suffering a 1-0 loss to Angola at Baba Yara Stadium and managing only a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane. These results leave the Black Stars in third place in Group F.
The drop from 64th to 70th globally sees Ghana overtaken by countries like Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, Albania, Cape Verde, and Burkina Faso. The Black Stars have also slipped to 14th in the continental rankings, with Cape Verde and Burkina Faso climbing ahead.
Morocco now leads the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rankings, followed by Senegal in second, with Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, and Tunisia completing the top five.
The Black Stars will look to redeem themselves in October when they face Sudan in their third and fourth AFCON qualifying matches.
