Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif is set to appear before Parliament's Select Committee on Sports to address issues concerning Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 campaign.

The session, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, will scrutinize the Ministry's role in the Black Stars' preparations, as well as budget and expenditure matters related to the tournament.

Ussif, the Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubori, will be required to explain how Ghana expended over $3 million in just 11 days during the tournament. The parliamentary inquiry aims to uncover the details behind Ghana's disappointing performance, where the Black Stars exited the competition in Côte d'Ivoire without a victory, finishing third in their group.

The committee, chaired by Kobina Woyome, will also hear testimonies from various stakeholders including the Ghana Football Association, the Black Stars management committee, the Ghana League Clubs Association, the National Sports Authority, and past and current members of the Black Stars.

Additionally, members of the Save Ghana Football Forum, who previously demonstrated in response to Ghana's poor showing at AFCON 2023, will also provide their input.

Woyome stated, "The aim of the probe is to gain a fundamental understanding of the issues leading to our current situation and to investigate the decisions and actions that may have impacted our Black Stars."
