Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) president, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has joined the chorus of voices calling for the dismissal of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 47-year-old coach has faced widespread criticism after overseeing the team's worst-ever AFCON qualifying campaign. The Black Stars finished bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches, recording three draws and three defeats.

This dismal performance means the four-time African champions will miss the tournament in Morocco next year—marking their first absence from the AFCON in 20 years.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Ben Nunoo Mensah emphasized the need for accountability and expressed support for public outcry over the team's failure.

"Ghanaians have every right to call for the sack of the coach," Nunoo Mensah stated. "I believe somebody must take responsibility for the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON. Failing to win a single game in the qualifiers and missing out on the tournament is a total embarrassment."

Despite the setback, the Black Stars will aim for redemption when they face Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo's future hangs in the balance, as the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) deliberates on his technical report following last week's marathon meeting.
