Ghana forward, Inaki Williams insists that he doesn't care if people think that he accepted to play for the Black Stars because of the World Cup.
In August 2022, Williams finally accepted to play for Ghana after years of snubbing invitations to wear the Black Stars strips.
Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stages of the 2022 World Cup.
The Black Stars will fly out to their World Cup camping base in Doha on Friday evening.
The 28-year-old says he is unbothered if people think that he announced his decision to represent the West African nation because of the World Cup.
"The federation had been in contact," he told BBC Africa.
"I told my grandfather, who told me it would be a dream for him to see me in the national team jersey. He is 90. He said he doesn't have long to live, but that he would like to see me play in a World Cup with the national team," he revealed.
"When he told me those words, I didn't have to think any more.
"It's a decision I've taken with my heart, regardless of what people may think or say - that maybe I am only playing for Ghana because they have qualified for the World Cup," he added.
