Former Asante Kotoko captain, Danlad Ibrahim, has denied rumors of a strained relationship with coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, insisting that there are no issues between them.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has parted ways with the Ghanaian giants after eight years, following the expiration of his contract.
In an interview with Onua TV, Danlad dismissed reports suggesting he was not on good terms with Ogum after losing his starting spot to Frederick Asare last season. He revealed that his decision to leave Kotoko was a joint decision made with the coach, the club's IMC, and himself.
“Coach Ogum understands me and knows my capabilities. Again, he knows how I helped the team off the pitch. My exit from Kotoko isn't solely Ogum's decision. My decision to quit the club is a joint one with the coach, the IMC, and myself. We reached a responsible conclusion and decided it was time for me to leave the club”
Danlad emphasized that as a player, he cannot have issues with his coach, citing the uncertainty of the future.
“No one knows what transpired before my departure so they have every right to say anything but truth be told, I have no issue with coach Ogum. As a player you can never have issues with your coach because you never know where you will be again”
With his departure from Kotoko confirmed, the goalkeeper is expected to seek a new challenge before the start of the 2024/25 football season.
