Daniel Agyei has sent a passionate message to the Ghana Football Association and head coach Otto Addo, insisting he is fully committed and ready to represent the Ghana national football team if handed the opportunity.
The 27-year-old forward, who currently plays for Turkish side Kocaelispor, revealed that his desire to wear the national colours is nothing new. According to Agyei, discussions with Ghanaian football officials date back to 2018, and since then he has remained open and eager for a call-up.
“It would be an honour to represent my country, Ghana. I’m a proud Ghanaian and grew up watching the Black Stars,” he said in an exclusive interview. “Ever since I spoke with former management back in 2018, I’ve been open and ready to play. If the opportunity comes and I am called upon, I’d give everything for the shirt.”
Agyei’s determination comes at a crucial time for Ghana, with the Black Stars preparing for high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former Leyton Orient striker moved to Turkey in June 2025 after declining a contract extension in England to sign a two-year deal with Kocaelispor. This season, he has scored four goals in 21 league appearances, continuing to build experience abroad.
With Ghana set to open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia, Agyei believes he can add depth and energy to the squad.
