Chairman of Ghana’s Parliamentary Sports Committee, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has strongly endorsed the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars, describing it as a rare but positive decision by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The experienced Portuguese tactician has been tasked with leading Ghana into the 2026 FIFA World Cup on a short-term contract, following the departure of Otto Addo after an inconsistent run of results.

Speaking on the appointment, Norgbey praised the GFA’s choice, insisting that Queiroz’s vast international experience and tactical discipline make him well-suited to the role at this crucial stage of Ghana’s football development.

“For once, the GFA has taken a decision that will inure to the benefit of the Black Stars, and I’m happy for the choice they have made,” he stated.

He added that Queiroz’s reputation and global coaching pedigree are likely to earn him immediate respect from the playing body, which could be key in building unity and discipline within the squad.

Ghana will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.
