Fast-forward, he's featured for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup and also in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers- of which the four-time champions have already secured qualification.
It took him twelve matches to get his first goal and that was really a vital one against Madagascar last month to set the Black Stars off to a brighter start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In an interview, the lanky forward states he is very happy to play Ghana. It is one decision that has really helped him play at World Cup, visit his family more often and is very proud for that.
“In the end, the door opened for me to play for Ghana and a trip with family made me change my plans. The moment of my life and my career is, in part, being in the national team and being able to see my Ghanaian family more often. I'm proud of the decision I made and playing in a World Cup with the national team will go down in history."
Inaki Williams is currently in the form of his life for Athletico Bilbao, having eight goals and provided three assists so far in the Spanish La Liga.
He is hoping to make coach Chris Hughton's final 26-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Cote D'Ivoire early next year.
