Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs’ Operations Director, Dad Simpson, has expressed surprise at criticism from some Division One clubs regarding the buses donated by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In an interview with Citi Sports, Simpson described the gesture as a “blessing in disguise,” highlighting its financial and logistical benefits for struggling clubs.

“We are privileged to have this bus. We drove it from Accra to Cape Coast, and I don’t think we had any issues with it. The only minor challenge is creating more middle space to accommodate additional passengers, but overall, the bus is so economical,” Simpson noted.

He addressed the criticism from other clubs, emphasizing that Dwarfs had no complaints about their bus.

“I’m surprised to hear some clubs complain. For Dwarfs, this bus is a blessing. It allows us to save money, which is crucial for clubs with limited resources,” he said.

Simpson detailed the cost savings achieved with the new bus, citing fuel expenses as a significant advantage.

“We used GHC 1,000 worth of fuel to travel from Accra to Cape Coast, and we still had GHC 500 worth of fuel remaining. Our old bus would have cost us GHC 2,000 for the same trip. Yes, it’s not brand new, but a beggar has no choice. Getting this for free is a huge help,” he added.

Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs were one of the nine clubs awarded a bus for finishing among the top three teams in Zone Two of the 2023/24 Access Bank Division One League. Despite some backlash, Simpson reiterated that the donation has been a significant boost for the club’s operations.
