Black Stars winger, Joseph Paintsil has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians after the country's embarrassing 2023 AFCON campaign.

Ghana needed a win to qualify but sadly gave away a two-goal lead and conceded two at the death of the game to play out a 2-2 stalemate with Mozambique in their final group game.

Jordan Ayew netted a brace against the Mambas last night all from spot-kicks but his goals were cancelled out subsequently courtesy two late goals from Geny Cipriano and Renildo Mandava.

The draw means the four-time champions ended the campaign with just points from a defeat and two draws and finished third in Group B.

The 26-year-old after the eviction has taken to his official Facebook handle to apologize to the people of Ghana and added they have learnt their lessons and will come good in their subsequent matches.

“Sincere apologies to the good people of Ghana. We are truly sorry for not meeting yourl expectations.Important lessons to take away from this unforgettable experience,” Joseph Paintsil wrote on his official Facebook page.

“Thank you for coming through with your support in our low moments.”

The Black Stars players will return to their respective clubs and will regroup again to take Mali on June 5, in their third game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
