Chief of Staff of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, Michael Osekre is said to be in line to replace Kwesi Appiah on the Executive Council (ExCo) of the GFA.
This development has become apparent because Appiah - the current head coach of the Sudanese national team has been warned to resign from his role as a member of the GFA Executive Council due to a presumed conflict of interest.
Appiah, who formerly coached the Ghana Black Stars was duly elected to the Executive Council after his tenure with Asante Kotoko’s IMC, before his appointment as head coach of Sudan.
According to a report by Muftawu Nabila Abdulai on August 14, 2024, Appiah has been informed to resign due to strings of potential conflict of interest.
Kickgh.com understands that during a recent Executive Council meeting, Appiah decided to excuse himself when discussions about the Black Stars started.
Ghana has been paired in Group F with Sudan, Angola and Niger in the main international men's association football competition draw.
The qualifiers are expected to start in September, 2024 and end in November 2024, with the top two teams in the group booking a place in the tournament in Morocco.
