President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has boldly declared his ambition to see Ghana win the FIFA World Cup during his tenure as head of the nation’s football governing body.

The Black Stars, four-time African champions, have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next summer.

Ghana’s best-ever performance on the global stage came in 2010, when the team reached the quarterfinals in South Africa, narrowly missing out on a historic semifinal berth after a dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Uruguay.

Speaking to 3Sports, Okraku said he believes the Black Stars must aim high as they prepare for the tournament.

“I want to win the World Cup. I want to win the World Cup. I’m going to tell the coach that I want to win the World Cup. That should be our vision,” he said.

“Because you don’t go to war thinking about not finishing it or not coming out as victors.”

The GFA President’s remarks come as the team intensifies its preparations for the global showpiece. The Black Stars are scheduled to play two international friendlies against Japan and South Korea on November 14 and 18, respectively, as part of their build-up to the tournament.

Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents when the World Cup draw is conducted on December 5, 2025.
