The National Sports Authority (NSA) says it is following the right procedures after meeting with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, over the situation of 17 officers whose recruitment has caused public discussion.
In a statement signed by Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the NSA said the meeting with the sector minister was positive and focused on finding solutions. The 17 officers are said to have worked for more than 11 months without receiving salaries.
The NSA said everyone agreed that proper public service rules must be followed, while also making sure the officers are treated fairly. It was decided that the affected officers would reapply for their jobs according to public service procedures.
The National Sports Authority added that a Governing Board has now been formed, almost 10 months after the current management took office. Once all required procedures are completed, steps will be taken to officially confirm the officers’ employment.
The NSA admitted that public comments about the issue have caused confusion. Management therefore advised staff, stakeholders and the media to rely only on official information and avoid speculation.

The statement stressed that the NSA is still fully working and focused on its main responsibilities.
It also said the Sports and Recreation Minister may speak with the Ministry of Finance if approval is needed to officially employ some key staff members. The NSA is currently facing a shortage of more than 400 workers.
Management and the Governing Board promised to continue working with the Ministry to improve systems, increase efficiency and maintain strong partnerships.
The statement ended by assuring the public that the NSA remains committed to transparency, smooth operations and keeping the trust of its local and international partners.
