Former Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko striker Obed Owusu has weighed in on the upcoming MTN FA Cup semifinal between his two former clubs, describing it as a pivotal match with continental implications.
Speaking on Agyapa Total Sports with Kwame Sekyere Darko in Kenyasi, Owusu highlighted the significance of the clash, noting that a win would put either side within reach of qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
“It’s an important game, and both teams have a chance to represent Ghana in Africa,” he said. “Samuel Boadu wouldn’t want Kotoko to beat him for the second time, whereas Kotoko will be eager to advance to the final.”
Samuel Boadu, now in charge of Berekum Chelsea, previously suffered a league defeat to Kotoko this season, and Owusu believes that result adds extra motivation for the Chelsea coach to seek revenge in the cup tie.
Despite the intensity of the rivalry and the high stakes, Owusu expects a competitive and entertaining encounter.
“It will be a good game, and I believe the better side on the day will win,” he added.
The highly anticipated semifinal is set for Sunday, May 11, at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, with both clubs eyeing silverware and a return to continental football.
