Charles Taylor, a Ghana Premier League legend, has voiced his opinion that some Black Stars players are more suited for club football than the national team.

Taylor pointed out that while these players excel at the club level, they don't perform as well when representing the national team. He specifically mentioned Thomas Partey and Nicholas Opoku as examples of players who seem better suited for their clubs.

Taylor stated in an interview with Angel TV that there is a distinction between club players and national team players, emphasizing that players like Mohammed Kudus, Andre Dede Ayew, and Jordan Ayew demonstrate the right mentality to perform both at the club and national team levels.

“What I've realised is that we have club players, we don't have national team players. We have players who perform really well at their clubs but when it comes to the national teams, they don't perform. That is what we are seeing. Players Nicholas Opoku and the likes, Partey, and others. When they play for their clubs, you see how they perform”

He also highlighted that certain fringe players in the Black Stars squad were exposed during recent games against Mexico and the USA, revealing that they might not be up to the task when given the opportunity. Taylor even suggested that some players prefer being substitutes rather than starting on the field.

“Players like Mohammed Kudus are those who show they have the mentality to play for the national team. Dede and Jordan, when they come to look at them, they play very well."

“There are some players who are bench players and God has revealed all of them to us. After Amartey and the others missed out, they played and we got to know they are not good enough. Meaning they prefer to be on the bench than to play. Meanwhile, I was always complaining for them to be given a chance, not knowing they knew what they were doing. They are bench warmers; they don't want to play. So when they are given the chance to prove themselves that they don't want to be on the bench, look at what they did."

Ghana's national team had a disappointing international break in October, losing to both Mexico and the USA with an aggregate score of 6-0. They suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mexico and a 4-0 loss to the USA.
