Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that members of the Black Stars Management Committee will receive financial rewards following Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The committee’s remuneration had previously been placed on hold, with the understanding that payments would only be made if the team secured qualification for the global tournament.

The Black Stars booked their place at next year’s World Cup after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, courtesy of a 47th-minute goal from Mohammed Kudus.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr. Adams revealed that the Management Committee members would be paid from the funds Ghana will receive from FIFA for qualifying — a measure designed to prevent any financial strain on the government.

“When you qualify, you earn money from FIFA, which you can use to pay the Management Committee members. This will not be a burden on the government,” he explained.
“I believe the Management Committee members have done very well, and I know they will be rewarded.”

The Sports Minister also disclosed plans to streamline administrative structures across all national teams in the future, suggesting a shift toward a unified management approach.

“Elsewhere, it is only one Management Committee for the national teams. Going forward, I believe we can explore that model so we have one Management Committee overseeing all the national teams,” he said.

The current Black Stars Management Committee is chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, with former captain Stephen Appiah serving as vice-chairman. Other members include Samuel Aboabire, Mose Armah, and Dr. Richard Nsenkyire.

Meanwhile, Ghana will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on December 5, 2025, during the official draw at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
