Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed his readiness to support efforts to bring Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi into the Black Stars setup but emphasized that the final decision on their inclusion rests entirely with the team’s technical staff.

Speculation has grown ahead of Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Comoros, with reports suggesting that the Crystal Palace forward and Nottingham Forest winger are open to switching allegiance to Ghana after representing England at youth level.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Adams said every eligible Ghanaian footballer deserves the opportunity to represent the nation — regardless of past affiliations or participation in the qualifiers.

“Every Ghanaian who knows how to play has the opportunity to go to the World Cup if the coach decides he wants them,” Adams said.
“It doesn’t matter whether the player was part of the team during the qualifiers or not. It doesn’t matter if the player has played before or not.”

Addressing discussions surrounding potential call-ups, Adams added:

“I have heard that others want to talk about bringing Baba Rahman back to the team. The coach will decide whether to include him or not.
Maybe they were looking elsewhere before, but we will not discriminate based on when a player featured during the qualifiers.”

The Minister also noted that he has been actively involved in background efforts to strengthen the national team and remains willing to assist in any capacity.

“That is my responsibility, and if I am contacted to help, I will,” he affirmed.
“Even some of the players playing now, I did background work to get them to the national team. It’s not about party politics — I’ve worked with people across the divide just to bring talent into the team. So whoever they want to bring in, I will be there to assist.”

The Black Stars capped off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1–0 victory over Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, thanks to a Mohammed Kudus strike in the 47th minute.

The win sealed Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance, and preparations now shift toward the 2026 tournament, with the official draw scheduled for December 5, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

After their group-stage exit in Qatar 2022, Ghana will aim for a deeper run at next year’s global showpiece.
