Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, has indicated that the possibility of English internationals Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi switching allegiance to represent Ghana remains open.
Both players, who have already made appearances for England's national team, are still eligible to play for the Black Stars under FIFA's nationality switch rules.
Nketiah, currently playing for Arsenal, has been capped once by England, while Hudson-Odoi of Nottingham Forest has made three appearances for the Three Lions. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been actively engaging with both players in hopes of convincing them to commit to Ghana's national team.
During the announcement of his 23-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, Otto Addo reiterated that the door is still open for the duo to join the Black Stars.
"The door is still open for Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah, but it is always about quality," Addo stated during the press conference.
As the Black Stars prepare for their AFCON qualifiers, they will first face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5, followed by a match against Niger in Morocco on September 9. These matches are crucial for Ghana as they seek to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON, with the top two teams from each group earning automatic qualification to the tournament.
