President of Vision FC, Michael Osekre, has sued journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai and Multimedia Group Limited over malicious publications.
The journalist and his media outlet are accused in the complaint filed in the Accra High Court of publishing false and defamatory allegations that have damaged the respected football administrator's reputation.
Multimedia Group Limited used its platforms Myjoyonline.com and Joy Prime TV to file a report on March 10, 2025, claiming that Mr Osekre, through his company Freightgistics Ghana Company Limited, was awarded a contract worth Gh¢5.1 million by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to procure the nine Hyundai County buses for Division One Clubs.
The report further alleged that Michael Osekre and the company engaged in fraudulent concealment of financial transactions for illicit personal benefit and were also accused of falsifying documents to misrepresent import details and evade proper financial accountability in procuring the vehicles.
Osekre, through his legal team, is seeking a compensation of five million Ghana cedis (GH¢ 5,000,000) from the journalist and his media company for the defamatory publications.
The lawyers of Michael Osekre and Freightgistics Ghana Company Limited said the publications have caused huge damage to the reputation of their clients, who have been subjected to public scorn, contempt, distrust, ridicule, and opprobrium from key stakeholders, including football clubs, sponsors, regulatory bodies, business associates, government officials, revenue authorities, and the general public.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also filed a lawsuit at the Accra High Court against Muftawu Nabila Abdulai and Multimedia Group Limited seeking damages of Gh¢20 million for reputational harm to the country's football governing body.
