Sports Minister Kofi Adams has expressed firm confidence that the Ghana national team will be fully prepared and competitive at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are set to make their fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be hosted across United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, their qualification has been accompanied by concerns from supporters following inconsistent performances in recent months.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the Minister for Sports and Recreation emphasized that his priority is to ensure the right structures are in place to give the team the best chance of success.
“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way,” he stated, adding that he remains focused and composed despite the pressures that come with the role.
Adams stressed that while expectations are high, he is approaching the task with careful planning and conviction, insisting that external pressure will not distract him from delivering results.
Ghana face a daunting challenge in Group L, where they will come up against England national team, Croatia national team, and Panama national team in what is widely regarded as one of the toughest groups.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23, and concluding their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
As part of preparations for the tournament, Ghana will engage in international friendlies against Mexico national team and Wales national team.
