Yusif Basigi, the head coach of the Black Princesses, has called on the Ghanaian government to extend contractual agreements to national team coaches beyond just the Black Stars coach.

Basigi believes that the current arrangement, where coaches are only offered short-term contracts by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is unsustainable and unfair.

In an interview with Onua FM, Basigi emphasized the hardships faced by national team coaches, citing the lack of job security and financial stability. He argued that the GFA is not equipped to handle contractual matters effectively and that it is the government's responsibility to intervene.

"When it comes to contract matters, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) cannot handle them," Basigi said. "If they are to enter contracts with coaches, it will be a worry. It is the government that must pay attention to us because the national team belongs to the government, and the GFA is a caretaker. So, the government should turn attention to us because we are suffering."

Basigi's comments come as he prepares to lead the Black Princesses to the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia.

The team will face Japan, New Zealand, and Austria in Group E and will be looking to break their streak of six consecutive failures to progress past the group stage.
