Andre Ayew, the esteemed captain of the Black Stars, has voiced his unwavering belief in the team's ability to surmount the obstacles that have impeded their progress in recent tournaments.

Criticism has been directed towards the senior national team for their lackluster performances in major competitions. Despite being four-time African Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, the Black Stars have faltered, bowing out at the group stage in the last three tournaments.

Their disappointing showing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar only added to the scrutiny, as they failed to meet the high expectations, exiting the competition prematurely.

Nevertheless, Ayew, a veteran with over 100 caps for his country, remains resolute about the team's prospects despite these setbacks.

"The players need to understand the significance of wearing this jersey, which means a lot to millions of people. It's a heavy responsibility, but I know we will bounce back. We're going through a rough patch, but we'll overcome it," the 33-year-old told Canal+.

Ayew is set to lead the team's resurgence as they regroup in June for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
