Hohoe United extended their impressive resurgence in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Sunday afternoon, securing back-to-back wins and delivering another statement performance at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
Fresh off their away triumph over Bechem United on Matchday 12, the Pride of Hohoe approached the encounter with confidence, pressing high and dictating the early tempo. Their dominance soon translated into a breakthrough, as William Oduro powered home an aesthetically pleasing decisive free kick in the 25th minute.
The forward’s strike, which his second of the season after opening his account against Karela United on October 5 — proved enough to separate the sides in a tightly contested affair.
Kotoko, entering the match as one of the league’s early pacesetters, struggled to impose themselves despite flashes of intent. Coach Karim Zito’s side carved out pockets of opportunity but lacked the precision required to breach Hohoe United’s disciplined defensive block.
As the second half unfolded, the Porcupine Warriors increased their urgency, piling late pressure on the hosts. Hohoe United, however, stood resolute, closing spaces, winning crucial balls, and protecting their narrow advantage with admirable composure.
The victory sees Hohoe United move up to 9th place with 17 points from four wins, five draws, and four defeats after 13 games — a significant step forward for a side steadily building a surprise package.
Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, remain 5th on 21 points, having recorded five wins, six draws and two defeats in the opening stretch of the campaign. The defeat marks a missed opportunity to tighten their grip on the top four as the season approaches its mid-point.
