Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Young Apostles in Sunday’s Matchweek 28 game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After four draws and one defeat in their last five matches, the Phobians showed strong determination, with striker Frank Abora Duku scoring the only goal of the game in the first half.

Hearts of Oak started the match well, keeping the ball and pressing high to put their opponents under pressure. Their good start paid off in the 35th minute when Abora Duku calmly scored to give them the lead.

Coach Didi Dramani’s team controlled most of the first half but could not add another goal before the break.

Young Apostles, coached by Abu Abdul-Hanaan, came back stronger in the second half and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. They created some pressure, but Hearts of Oak defended well and stayed solid at the back.

Despite the pressure, Hearts of Oak held on and managed the game well in the final minutes to secure all three points.

The win is Hearts of Oak’s 11th of the season, along with 13 draws and four defeats after 28 matches. They now move up to third place on the league table with 46 points.

Young Apostles have now recorded eight wins, nine draws and 11 losses. They drop to 16th place with 33 points as they continue to fight against relegation.

Hearts of Oak will hope to continue this form in their next matches, while Young Apostles will need to improve as the season goes on.
