The plot thickens in the betPawa Premier League as the list of fixtures keeps getting shorter and shorter. The battle for survival at one end and the final push for Ghanaian dominance on the other dominate the matches this midweek. We take a look at the three things you must watch out for.
Tamale City ‘gunning’ for Kotoko
The last time that Kotoko played at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium, they left with a defeat to RTU. After a below par performance against Olympics last Sunday, how they’d love to change that and heap more misery on Mohammed Wahid and Tamale City. Tamale City are also in need of a fillip but for entirely different reasons. Just two wins at home all season has left the locals a little restless.
Injuries and niggles continue to blight the Porcupine Warriors as they look to get a settled XI and a semblance of a decent run of results. They’ll expect Mohammed Wahid’s men to harass them for the full 90 minutes and this match is another that is far from a foregone conclusion. The only thing Real do have in their favour is that the hosts have one of the worst defensive records in the division. There are goals to be had.
Hearts’ toughest test so far
After so much upheaval at the club at the start of the season, for connoisseurs of Ghanaian football it’s great to see one of the popular clubs in the division back where they belong. However, this will be a tough test against another of the form teams in King Faisal Babes FC, and one who are still smarting from their drawn game against Bechem United last Sunday.
That said, David Ocloo isn’t normally one to have his team’s sit back and defend, and by coming at the hosts from the off, it could leave the visitors exposed against King Faisal’s pace and power up front. This is sure to be an absorbing watch and one of the highlights of week twelve.
Medeama to put Dreams FC disappointment to one side against Nsoatreman
Medeama will return to the Akoon after the Dreams FC mauling last Sunday. The Mauves and Yellow are now 12th on the log with 14 points. At present it leaves their hopes of winning the championship in the balance. Thankfully, championship aspirations can be put to one side as the Medeama welcomes the league debutants to Tarkwa.
However, the defensive frailties of the side and an inability to address them could derail their chances.
