Defender Joseph Ablorh has opened up about his decision to join Asante Kotoko in the ongoing transfer window, revealing that his friend and former captain Amos Frimpong played a key role in convincing him to join the Ghanaian outfit.

The 25-year-old centre-back signed a two-year deal with Kotoko ahead of the 2024/25 football campaign, and in an interview with the club's media, Ablorh revealed that Frimpong was instrumental in persuading him to join the Porcupine Warriors.

"I had many offers, but I was convinced by a friend (Amos Frimpong) to join Asante Kotoko. I decided to join Kotoko because of him," Ablorh said. "I wanted to play for Kotoko at the beginning of my career, but I didn't get the chance so I travelled. I think this is the right time for me to help Kotoko."

Ablorh's decision to join Kotoko comes after an impressive spell at Hafia FC, where he distinguished himself during the 2020/2021 season with his strong tackling and aerial prowess, earning recognition for his performances and a spot in the Season's Best XI.

Kotoko's move to bolster their squad with players like Ablorh is part of their plan to fortify the team ahead of upcoming campaigns, following the departure of more than 20 players at the conclusion of the previous season.
