The budding talented will be part of the Porcupine Warriors despite being declared surplus to requirements by the club's head coach.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko have declined coach Prosper Narteh Ogum's request of offloading young midfielder Clinton Opoku, Kickgh.com can exclusively report.
The former Phar Rangers star was among the players deemed surplus to requirements by the new technical team spearheaded by Prosper Narteh Ogum.
However, Kickgh.com has reliably been told that the IMC have kicked against the decision of terminating the contract of 20-year-old and considering a loan move for the youngster.
Opoku has a contract with Asante Kotoko until the end of the 2025/26 season's campaign and expected to be farmed out to a Premier League or Division One League side in this transfer window to aid his development.
His progression at Asante Kotoko was hampered by injuries which ruled him out of action for several months, forcing him to undergo a surgery on his damaged knee.
Opoku arrived at Asante Kotoko at age 18 in 2021 from defunct club, Phar Rangers FC and has made six league appearances for the Kumasi based outfit due to injuries.
Asante Kotoko have already parted ways with Mohammed Alhassan, Maxwell Agyemang, Charles Owusu, Dickson Afoakwa and Samuel Boateng who spent second half of last season on loan at FC Samartex.
Asante Kotoko have also bolster their squad list with the acquisition of Yahaya Dawuni, Nanabayin Amoah, Kalo Ouattara, Andrews Ntim Manu and Henry Ansu.
Prosper Narteh Ogum's side are currently in Nsuta Beposo for a pre-season training for the upcoming 2023/24 season's campaign.
