Asante Kotoko have paid tribute to their former player Annor Walker, who has died in Accra after an illness.
Walker joined the Porcupine Warriors in 1981 before moving into coaching, where he managed several Ghanaian clubs including Great Olympics, Berekum Chelsea, Kpando Hearts of Lions and Nania FC.
He leaves behind a lasting imprint on Ghanaian football as both a tactician and a mentor. In a statement, Kotoko described him as “a true servant of the Ghanaian game”.
“Asante Kotoko SC is saddened to hear of the passing of our former player Annor Walker, who joined the Porcupine squad in 1981. Rest in peace, Walker, a true servant of the Ghanaian game,” the club wrote on social media.
A CAF Licence A holder, Annor Walker guided Nania to their historic FA Cup victory over Kotoko in 2011 and in 2020 he returned to the dugout at Great Olympics where he re-establish them as a force in the Premier League, building one of their most competitive sides in recent years.
Despite health challenges, he also managed Ghana’s Black Galaxies, taking them to the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria.
