Eric Alagidede, a former General Manager of Nsoatreman FC has staunchly defended former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, refuting accusations made against him for instigating violence during the Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.

Baffour-Awuah was arrested in connection with the death of a Kotoko supporter during the fierce clash at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on Sunday.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Alagidede labelled Baffour-Awuah as a fervent devotee of football and a known supporter cum sponsor of Asante Kotoko, maintaining that he would never abet violence against the Porcupine Warriors.

"The Ignatius Baffour Awuah I know is passionate about football. He always wants to win, but I don’t think he can even hurt a fly or incite violence," Alagidede stated.

"He is a known Kotoko fan and used to contribute to the club to help buy players. He is the last person who would want to harm Kotoko."

Having appeared before the Sunyani District Court, which was presided over by Eric Daning charged Baffour-Awuah with abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder.

Baffour-Awuah has since been granted a GH₵500,000 bail with three sureties and has been ordered to report himself to the police station, crime officer or investigator everyday for the first 14 days.

He was also ordered to submit his passport to the registry of the court until further directions.
