The experienced shot-stopper made his first-ever appearance for the Black Stars in a massive victory over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Friday evening.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare delivered a standout performance by keeping a clean sheet in Ghana's 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The 32-year-old, who received his debut call-up to the senior national team this month, was handed a starting berth ahead of Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott in the match-day five fixture.

Asare was handed a debut invitation to the Black Stars by Otto Addo following his exploits at Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League since joining them from their sworn-rivals Great Olympics in 2024.

He enjoyed the entire duration of the game.

The Black Stars recorded a resounding home victory over their Chadian counterparts to keep their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes alive, extending their winning streak to three under Otto Addo in the qualifiers.

Otto Addo's side are yet to drop points in their last three matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after defeating Mali, Central African Republic and today's 5-0 win over Chad in Accra.

Ghana currently sits on top of Group I, two points clear, and will be boosted by Friday's results to claim victories in subsequent games. They will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in the match-day six clash on Monday.
