Former Asante Kotoko forward Kojo Poku has proposed offering free entry to female students from tertiary institutions as a way to increase stadium attendance in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM's Tony Muntana, Poku argued that attracting women to the stands would encourage more men to attend, creating a livelier matchday atmosphere.
“It’s a known fact that where women are, men will follow,” he explained, suggesting that such an initiative could significantly improve crowd turnout.
Beyond attendance, Poku believes the move could enhance fan engagement, increase ticket and merchandise sales, and shift public perception of local football.
He sees it as a potential strategy to revitalize GPL stadiums, making them more vibrant and inclusive.
With support from clubs and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Poku's idea could become a game-changer in efforts to enhance matchday experiences and rekindle interest in domestic football.
