Players of Berekum Chelsea are receiving medical checks and psychological support after a violent robbery attack that led to the death of striker Dominic Frimpong.
The club says the squad has safely returned to Berekum and is now being supported to help them recover from the traumatic incident that has left many players shaken.
In a statement, Berekum Chelsea confirmed the team arrived in Berekum on Monday, 13 April, using a bus provided by fellow Ghana Premier League side Bibiani Gold Stars.
“The team has since returned safely to Berekum and is currently undergoing medical evaluation and psychological support to aid recovery from the traumatic experience,” the club said.
Officials added that the incident has deeply affected everyone connected to the club.
“This unfortunate incident has deeply affected the club, its players, officials, and the entire football fraternity,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), led by the Bono Regional Police Commander, has visited the club in Berekum to assure them that those responsible will be brought to justice.
The police say investigations are ongoing and that the attackers will face the full force of the law.
The attack happened on Sunday, 12 April 2026, when the team bus carrying around 30 players and officials was travelling from Samreboi to Berekum.
Police say six armed men were involved in the attack on the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin area of the Ashanti Region. Three of the attackers were reportedly armed with pump-action guns and opened fire on the bus.
The death of Frimpong has shocked Ghana football and raised fresh concerns about the safety of teams travelling for league matches.
