Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has announced that he has no plans to venture into coaching. Instead, he is relishing his current role as a football pundit, where he critiques and suggests improvements for Ghanaian football.
Since his retirement, Taylor has been a regular guest on major radio and television football shows in Ghana. He believes that his role as a pundit allows him to contribute to the sport in a meaningful way, and he is not shy about expressing his opinions, especially regarding the competency of coaches.
"No, coaching is not for me. What I do is talk about when coaches go wrong; I talk about it. That is my job. If you are a coach and you are not competent, I will tell you," Taylor told Peace FM.
Taylor, who played for Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko among other clubs, feels proud of his career in Ghana. He draws on his extensive experience with numerous coaches to inform his critiques.
"A lot of coaches have managed me. I played a lot in Ghana, so if you say I only played football in Ghana, I like it because when I played, I saw coaches who are better and even managed me. Will you get coach Afranie and Jones coaching you? So I saw better coaches. If you are a coach and you don't deserve it, I will tell you," he added.
