FC Samartex 1996 head coach Nurudeen Amadu has described his team’s goalless draw with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium as a fair result but voiced concerns over missed opportunities in front of goal.
The match marked Samartex’s opening fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season as they begin their title defense.
Despite gaining a numerical advantage when Dreams FC’s Collins Buah was shown a second yellow card in the 70th minute, Samartex failed to convert their chances. Coach Amadu acknowledged that having an extra player doesn't guarantee victory.
“Numerical advantage does not mean you win the game. I think it’s a fair reflection, but we should have done better in terms of our attacking play and finishing. We had some decent chances, more than them, but our finishing was poor, and that’s what we need to work on,” Amadu stated in his post-match interview.
After securing their first-ever Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season, Samartex will now shift their focus to the CAF Champions League. They face Morocco's Raja Casablanca in the second round on Sunday, September 15, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
