Ghana Premier League heavyweights Accra Hearts of Oak have announced the departure of Mamane Lawali following the expiration of his contract with the club.
Lawali joined the Phobians on a free transfer in 2020 but failed to live up to expectations at the Capital based outfit due to a knee injury sustained during the 2020/21 season.
The club's official statement reads “After 3 years of being with Accra Hearts of Oak, midfielder, Lawali Mamane has finally parted ways with the club.”
“The Nigerien midfielder whose contract ended this year has opted not to extend his contract with the club thereby bringing his stay at the club to an end. He has opted to continue with his career elsewhere.”
Lawali got injured in his first year at the club and underwent a successful surgery in South Africa and has since being going through his prescribed rehabilitation program. Lawali just like Daniel Kodie and Abdul Aziz Nurudeen all underwent surgery at the South African Hospital to ensure that they overcome their respective injury situations and get them back to the field.
Lawali bid farewell to the club and said he is very grateful for the opportunity given him though he could not live up to his career dreams at the club.
He thanked the fans and management for the support and love they showed him during his stay at the club.
The Nigerien has also shown his gratitude to the Executive Board Chairman for his generosity and support for him and the entire squad.
“I am grateful to the Board Chairman for helping me get my surgery and ensuring that I can continue to play and make a living. I thank the fans as well for keeping faith in me even though I wasn’t playing they still believed in me.” Lawali told the club's official website.
