Samuel Inkoom, a former defender for Asante Kotoko, recently shared a heartwarming story about a dedicated supporter of the club who went above and beyond to express his appreciation for Inkoom's contributions to the team.
Following a league match against King Faisal, Inkoom was approached by a fan who expressed a desire to meet him. Little did Inkoom know that this encounter would result in a remarkable display of gratitude.
Inkoom recounted the memorable incident, stating, "After the game, I heard that someone was looking for me. I met him, and he asked that I hang around for a while before going home. I obliged, and he asked me to follow him."
The fan then took Inkoom to a garage near the Santasi roundabout, where he presented him with a car as a token of appreciation. Inkoom was deeply moved by the gesture, especially since he had never met the fan before.
"I didn’t know him from anywhere. It was my first time meeting him," Inkoom explained. "He told me that he had followed me since I signed for Kotoko and had been impressed with my performance for the club, so that was his way of showing appreciation."
Despite initially feeling overwhelmed by the unexpected gift, Inkoom eventually drove the car home and formed a close bond with the fan, whose name he later discovered to be Prince. The two have maintained a strong relationship and regularly keep in touch.
“I wasn’t a good driver then but I managed to drive it home. I later found out his name is Prince and we have a good relationship now. We keep in touch constantly.”
Samuel Inkoom's time with Asante Kotoko from 2008 to 2009 left a lasting impression on the club's supporters, including Prince, whose generous gesture exemplifies the deep connection between players and fans in the world of football.
