FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu has expressed his ambition to make a deep run in the CAF Champions League, following their maiden participation in the elite competition.

The Ghanaian side won the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title and will represent the country in the prestigious tournament.

Amadu drew inspiration from previous Ghanaian teams that have achieved success in continental competitions, specifically Medeama SC and Dreams FC, who reached the group stage and semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League respectively.

"It's a privilege and I take inspiration from any of them like [Karim] Zito, [Evans] Adotey. Medeama as a club what they have been able to do, we are all proud of them," Amadu said.

The coach is optimistic that his team can make a strong impression in their debut appearance, citing the motivation of the technical team, players, management, and investors.

"Since it's our debut, we are also trying to go far, trying to do our best. It's not going to be easy. The technical team, the playing body, the management and the investors, are all motivated to carry the team to a different level."

FC Samartex has been drawn against Cameroonian side Victoria United in the preliminary round, with the first leg taking place on August 18 at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe, Cameroon, and the return leg scheduled for August 25 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
