Former Asante Kotoko SC coach Abdul Karim Zito has revealed that the immense pressure of managing the Porcupine Warriors affected both his performance and health during his stint with the club.
Zito returned to Kotoko in 2025, taking charge late in the 2024/25 season and continuing into the 2025/26 campaign. However, a poor run of results and mounting pressure saw him resign midway through the season.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Zito disclosed that a doctor’s check-up shortly after leaving the club revealed he had been medically unfit due to the stress he endured while at Kotoko.
“Seeing my doctor shortly after leaving Kotoko, he told me I was fortunate for the timely check-up; he noticed I was medically unfit, though I hadn’t realised while working,” Zito said.
“I was living, eating, and talking alone, consumed by the Kotoko job. I handled the pressure all by myself. I only managed to see my family on five occasions.”
The former Dreams FC head coach has now taken on a short-term contract with FC Ashanti Gold 04 in the Division One League, marking a new chapter in his managerial career.
